Calendula Flowers Oil Infusion
Calendula oil is an easy-to-make infused herbal oil that will soothe and heal the skin. Infusing calendula in oil is a simple process that can be used to make salves, body butters, lip balms or used as a nourishing oil on its own for face & body.
Calendula (Calendula officinalis) is known for its calming and anti-inflammatory effects, it helps soothe redness and irritation. It can help with eczema, rashes and swollen lymph glands.
What You’ll Need:
• 1 cup dried calendula flowers.
• 1 ½ cups of carrier oil (olive oil, jojoba, avocado, apricot).
• A clean, dry glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.
• A cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer.
• Bottle for storage.
*Optional: Vitamin E oil for extended shelf life.
Instructions:
- Fill the jar with dried calendula flowers. Pour carrier oil over the flowers until they’re fully submerged, leaving about an inch of space at the top of the jar.
- Seal & label with the date you started your infusion.
- Store for about 4-6 weeks, gently shaking the jar every few days to distribute the oil and release any air bubbles.
- Strain the Oil. After 4 weeks strain the oil using cheesecloth or a fine strainer. Squeeze the flowers gently to extract every drop.
- Store Infused Oil in a glass bottle, preferably a dark glass bottle to protect it from light, which can degrade its quality. Label with the date—it’s best used within 6-12 months.
