DIY Coffee Scrub
Hands down, all I am thinking about lately is Spring! I’m anticipating my spring cleaning, cleansing, and prepping my skin for THE GLOW. I am so over dry, dull, winter skin.
Speaking of winter skin, I 'm excited to share my DIY recipe to slough off any old skin cells and clear the way for new ones to gleam through.
I have been making my own scrubs for a while now, but this past year I started making them with coffee grounds. When I heard it helped with cellulite, I hit that coffee machine running! Coffee grounds not only exfoliate the skin, but the caffeine helps the dilation of blood vessels, and improves skin firmness and texture.
You only need a few ingredients, and the best part is you will not have to moisturize after, it leaves your skin smooth and soft.
It’s natural, non-toxic, easy to make and FREE!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup, coffee grounds
- 2/3 cup organic sugar
- 1 cup coconut oil
- Add 10-15 drops of your choice of essential oil (my fav is Grapefruit)
Instructions:
- Add coffee grounds to a mason jar or any type of jar
- Add your sugar
- Melt your coconut oil over the stove
- Add to your sugar and coffee grounds and mix well
- Store in jar with an airtight lid
You might notice some recipes have more coffee grounds, then coconut oil, but you want to make sure the oil covers all the coffee to avoid it from going moldy. I never had a moldy issue until I followed a recipe that called for too little oil.
This is a messy job in the shower! You might need a shower strainer or use a washcloth to remove scrub from your body if you are worried about clogging your pipes.
